SEPARATE FACT FROM FICTION Fact #1 Audible automotive alarm systems are classified as Layer 2 Devices- The best units are Starter Kill only and 99.99% of the connections made inside the passenger compartment and they are easily defeated in seconds. What's more astounding, if your vehicle has a manual transmission and the only protection you have is a 'starter kill' alarm system, all that thieves have to do is penetrate your vehicle, free the steering column and push start the vehicle (the starter doesn't even come into play). Moreover, automatic transmission equipped vehicles do not fair any better as professional thieves only have to crack the ignition column and hot-wire or simply direct wire to the starter. The security from auto theft provided by these types of devices is next to ZERO. Fact #2 While vehicle recovery and tracking systems have helped law enforcement across the country recover stolen vehicles- they are not the answer to auto theft. Why? 1. They provide no impediment and do nothing to prevent the vehicle from being stolen in the first place. 2. Auto theft is considered a low priority crime and is placed in the bottom of the police dispatch cue. 3. Today’s law enforcement officers are much to busy dealing with high priority issues such as motor vehicle accidents, drug trafficking, rape, assault and battery, prostitution, homicide, armed robbery, DWI and DUI, domestic disputes, and other disturbances and transgressions of the law. 4. The coverage and number of equipped police vehicles is not what you may be led to believe. Don't be fooled by what you may be told. Do your homework and call your local and nearby law enforcement agencies. Ask for the auto theft division and inquire as to the number of vehicle tracking equipped police cruisers in your area as well as nearby cities.Fact #3 Vehicle recovery and tracking systems that rely on a radio transmitter and upon stealth to perform. In addition, if the device emits or receives a signal in order to function it can be easily located and disposed of. Layer 4 Devices - Vehicle Tracking and Recovery Systems whether they use radio frequency transceivers or Global Positioning System (GPS) are typically very expensive. Even worse, they provide absolutely no protection from auto theft at all. They hinge on the philosophy of "If we can't stop them then let's track them". But yet, many manufacutres, even offer as an added option full fledged alarm systems that are coupled with a tracking device on the higher level systems and they even try to bribe you by offering monetary guarantees. Some even offer a hidden kill switch. Furthermore, these types of devices indirectly perpetuate vehicle theft and drive up insurance rates-, as thieves have no real obstacles to overcome in stealing your vehicle. GPS devices are easily defeated in seconds- all that thieves have to do is break off the short visible antenna or locate and discard the GPS device. What is even scarier, GPS devices like will not work through concrete walls, ceilings, and other barriers (such as underground parking garages). These devices rely on the use a satellite system, which requires an unobstructed line-of-sight between the vehicle's satellite antenna and orbiting GPS satellites. In my opinion, while they are very expensive, radio frequency transceiver systems in comparison to GPS based systems are by far the best vehicle tracking and recovery systems available on the market. At least the small radio frequency transceiver may be hidden in over 20 locations in your vehicle (not even the owner knows where it is). However, the biggest issue with these systems is that they are 'After the Fact' and only become useful after your vehicle has already been stolen-as reported by the Boston Police Department, the city in which the idea originated... "By the time the victim reports their vehicle stolen, (which is usually the next day) it has already been stripped and dumped. If the owner of the stolen vehicle is lucky, the thieves will not have removed the tracking transponder while stripping the vehicle and the tracking system will lead the police to the abandoned shell of the vehicle." Moreover, coverage for radio frequency transceiver and GPS systems are not available in all areas, and they are not very practical in big cities." Furthermore, they are expensive (they start at about $700 up to about $1700 and more depending on what options you may add... and some even require a monthly monitoring fee and annual inspection fee. Even more disturbing, all of these devices require the action of others just to initiate the system. "Basically, the more steps that are involved in a process to achieve a particular result or outcome- the greater the likelihood for failure or breakdown in a system."Fact #4 Look for a high-quality and performance proven passsive Layer 3 electronically immobilizing anti-theft device. A passive device requires only your action and not that of others in order for the system to work. Fact #5 The only way to take control and rest easy is to never have your car stolen in the first place. Many of today's auto security manufacturers due to their inability to combat the growing problem of auto theft have adopted the philosophy, 'If you can't stop them then track them." Some offer insurance or monetary guarantees, alarm systems and recommend hidden kill switches on top of their systems (these are costly at an additional $70.00 - $125.00 and are easily located and defeated)- this also says a lot about the confidence in the devices they manufacturer and sell. Fact #6 The worse aspect about all other systems is that they offer a false-sense of security to the vehicle owner in that they do little or literally nothing significant to STOP vehicle theft. Yet, you're told that you can rest assured that the device will protect your vehicle and its contents from theft or that you'll get your vehicle back sooner and with less damage- and that should give you peace of mind. Stopping content theft via some type of anti-theft device is a falacy… as long as you have glass nothing will stop a smash and grab thieves from breaking your window and taking your items. More importantly, the only thing that will stop professional thieves from stealing your vehicle is a device that stops thieves dead in their tracks… not a warning sticker, not a noise maker, not a mechanical locking system, not a hidden kill switch, not an ‘After the Fact’ device, etc., but a device that has been proven to work.Do you know of anyone whom has ever had their vehicle stolen that has peace of mind? On the contrary, you feel totally violated… because, that is what vehicle theft feels like. Imagine, someone taking something of yours without your permission or consent. In short, your problems have only begun. Just ask anyone whom has had their vehicle stolen. Fact #7 Unlike any other system on the market, the Ravelco features a patented fault-proof and tamper-proof design that cannot be bypassed. There is absolutely no way to "wire around" or bypass the system. Even if a thief has a copy of your key, removes the vehicle's battery, cuts electrical wires, or tries to hot-wire around the system... without the Ravelco Plug, the engine still won't tuen over. Fact #8 Nothing stops towing but there is something you can do to circumvent a tow. Are you worried about your car being towed? Click here and learn some very effective techniques to circumvent towing. Fact #9 Would be thieves would have to trace out (very time consuming) and deinstall the Ravelco to defeat it and start your vehicle- an almost impossible obstacle. Fact #10
